Circulatory ailments Blood has a crucial function of transporting the essential nutrients and oxygen to the various internal organs of the body.
It is also responsible for carrying the waste materials to the kidneys for elimination. Heart has the responsibility of pumping the blood. The heart is divided into two parts.
The right side collects the used, deoxygenated venous blood and sends it to the lungs for oxygenation. This rejuvenated blood then goes to the left side of the heart and is pumped with a great force into the arteries for supplying to all the other internal organs and tissues of the body. These arteries and veins connect with smaller vessels called arterioles and venules which are linked further by microscopically small vessels called capillaries.
When the circulation is poor, the tissues receive insufficient supply of oxygen. The essential oils of black pepper, coriander, ginger, juniper berry, lavender, lemon, marjoram, rose, rosemary and thyme aid in improving your circulation. These oils are termed as rubefacients and stimulate the blood flow to the applied area.
They help in widening of capillaries, and thus increase the volume of blood flow to the area. This provides the tissues with extra oxygen.
Use these essential oils in massage or the bath regularly. Always do a patch test before applying any oil.
The recipes for the treatment are given below: Massage oil: add six drops of rosemary, five drops of bay and coriander and four drops of black pepper or ginger to the 50 ml base oil. You can also use eight drops of lavender, six drops of rose and six drops of rosemary or thyme in the above combination. Bath oil: use either of the above combinations of oils with adjusted quantities or use a single oil with more drops like ten drops of rosemary. |
