Colds and flu Upper respiratory tract infections cause colds.
These are characterized by coughing and sneezing. There are around 30 different species of viruses called rhinoviruses which are responsible for the cold.
The others cause influenza, also known as flu. Cold is generally characterized by running nose, thick head and general feeling of unease.
Mild attack of influenza might sometimes resemble a cold. When you experience the ache in the muscles of the limb along with the fever, you know that you are suffering from real influenza.
When the infection of flu is severe, it can be fatal. You might also experience the infection of respiratory tract by bacteria, for which antibiotics are prescribed.
Their use does not conflict with the usage of aromatherapy. The essential oils used for treatment are eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, pine, tea-tree and thyme. These oils are prophylactic which means they prevent the occurrence of disease.
Use them in treatment b adding them to the bath. The recipe for aromatherapy bath is as follows: five drops of tea-tree, lavender or five drops of thyme, lemon. You can also use six to ten drops of lavender, lemon, tea-tree or thyme in an essence burner or as steam inhalation, either singly or in a blend. Dissolve a small amount of honey in half a cup of hot water and add the juice of small lemon or half of large one and consume this solution three to four times in a day. Also take Vitamin C tablets.
