Eczema Psoriasis Eczema is the inflammation of the skinwith redness, itching, scaling, crusting ad weeping at times.
It is usually associated with allergy, stress and could be a hereditary event. The essential oils used are bergamot, cajeput, chamomile, cedarwood, geranium, juniper berry, lavender, patchouli, rose, sdalwood, tea-tree and ylang ylang.
Treat dry eczema with massage oil. Use bland lotion or a compress for the weeping eczema.
For dry eczema, add five drops each of bergamot, geranium, sandalwood and five drops of lavender or tea-tree. Use not more than ten drops of lavender and ylang ylang for the bath. For weeping eczema, add ten drops of patchouli, five drops of juniper and five drops of cedarwood or rose to 50 ml lotion. Psoriasis is a non-infective chronic skin disease whose symptoms are dry, scaly, red areas mostly in the flexure area of elbows, knees and wrists.
It is usually caused by stress and anxiety. The aromatherapy treatment is directed towards relieving anxiety and stress and stimulating the growth of new skin cells to replace the damaged ones.
The essential oils used for treatment are bergamot, cajeput, chamomile, cedarwood, geranium, lavender, rose and sandalwood. Make a lotion by adding eight drops each of bergamot, cajeput and geranium or five drops each of chamomile, lavender and sandalwood and five drops of rose or cedarwood to 50 ml base.
Apply this lotion twice a day till you see any improvement and after that reduce it to once a day. When you notice any improvement, use the lotion to twice a week. Increase the application in case of a flare-up. If you do not see any improvement, change the combinations. You can also have a bath with a few drops of lavender or sandalwood added. |
