Wart removal

Wart is a non-cancerous growth on skin or mucous membrane caused by human papilloma virus.



It is small, blunt-tipped, rounded outgrowth and contagious. Wart typically occurs on hands and feet. Generally warts last for few months only, but it can last for a long time and once gone it can reoccur.



Warts are generally painless and harmless. Some of the types of warts are

Common warts are generally found on the hands, but can appear anywhere.
Flat warts are generally found on the face and forehead. They are Common in children.
Genital warts are usually found on the genitals, in the pubic area, and the area between the thighs.



They are highly contagious
Plantar warts are found on the soles of the feet.
Subungual and peariungual warts are found under and around the fingernails or toenails

Some of the symptoms of wart are as follows

Small, hard and flat or raised lump on the skin generally surrounded by light or dark skin,
Rough growth around the hands or toe fingernails.
Many small, smooth and flat lesions can be seen on the forehead, cheeks arms or legs.

There are many treatments available to get rid of warts.



Many over-the- counter medicines are available at the medical shops. These drugs can be applied directly on the warts. One must not try to remove wart by cutting or burning it as it may leave a scar on the skin.



One may also consider immunotherapy to cure warts. For some persistent warts one may go for surgical treatment like cryotherapy or electrocautery. Beside all this one may also consider aromatherapy – natural remedy to cure warts.



Aromatherapy uses aromas of the essential oils extracted from the natural plants and herbs, for treatment purpose.
Some of the essential oils available for treating warts are Cinnamon Bark, Lemon, Thyme, Melaleuca, Oregano etc.
For treating warts essential oil could be used either in bath water or it could be massaged on the affected area. As aromatherapy is a natural and herbal way of treating warts one can be tension free regarding any negative side effects.

As said prevention is better than cure, one must avoid direct skin contact with a wart as they are contagious, Hands should be washed properly after touching wart.
