Hi,
Patchouli is an essential oil which has a base note to it. It is not a base oil or a carrier oil like a vegetable oil in which an essential oil is mixed and then used for massage.
Patchouli oil is native to South east asia, specially Sumatra and Java. It grows between altitudes of 900 and 1800 metres ( 3000 and 6000 feet).
Most of the worlds supply of patchouli oil comes from Indonesia. But East and West Indies, Paraguay, China, Malaysia, Egypt and India are also produce patchouli on a large scale.
