Citronella is a Light, fresh and uplifting oil and has natural deodorizing, insect repelling properties. Hence, it is used in formulations against mosquitoes, fleas etc. It is important to note that essential oils should not be used neat i.e 100% concentration on the skin because they are highly strong and could cause skin sensitization etc. Citronella falls under this category. Do not use it neat. You can add 1drop of citronella oil in a big bowl of water. Swish it around till it mixes and then dip a towel into it. Squeeze the towel and place it on the face. Remember, not to use more than 1drop at a time. Take care that the oil droplets do not get into the eyes, or on raw skin tissue.
