When there is a problem with the flow of blood in the veins, it causes the walls of the veins to expand and cause varicose veins. If, for some reason, the blood circulation slows down, it can cause the blood to clot and form hemorrhoids. It is the muscles of the legs and pelvis that help to push the blood back up so that it can move back to the heart.
A person who stands or sits too much every day, can easily develop varicose veins because of inactivity for long periods of time. The flow of blood to the pelvic area can also be restricted if you are obese or wear very tight fitting clothes. Pregnancy and chronic constipation can also cause a slowing of the blood flow.
Due to this slow down of the blood flow, there is an extra load on the veins that cause the veins to stretch and eventually become weak. These veins become extended and can be seen through the skin.
Aromatherapy Varicose Veins Treatment
A permanent treatment of varicose veins usually involves a surgical procedure. However, aromatherapy has proved to have some benefits for those suffering from varicose veins too. Oils like chamomile, myrtle, cypress, palmarosa, and frankincense help reduce the inflammation and ease the stress on the veins. These essential oils, when mixed with regular massage oils, can be used on the affected skin. However, the massage should be very gentle, without the use of even the slightest of force. Since the veins are already weakened, even a little bit of force can cause them damage.
If the varicose veins have caused the skin to get inflamed, apply the essential oil of carrot seed. To make a compress using carrot seed essential oil, mix three parts of the oil with equal parts of chamomile and lavender essential oils. Add this to a cup of cold water and if possible, a small spoon of calendula tincture. This mixture is quite potent and should not be applied directly on the skin. Instead daub a soft cloth in the solution and wring it well. Use this cloth to cover the affected skin. Use this as often as you possibly can in a day.
For enlarged veins, the essential oils of juniper berry, myrrh and lavender can also have very good results.
You can also mix ten parts of palmarosa oil with eight parts of cypress oil, seven parts of chamomile oil and about an ounce of vegetable oil. Apply this mixture topically on the affected area twice day to get relief fr
