Cuts and bruises are a common phenomenon in our day to day lives, especially when the levels of physical activity are high. Cuts are quite common in children on account of field activities coupled with carelessness.
There are a lot of natural remedies to treat cuts and bruises; however, aromatherapy is one of the most effective remedies to treat cuts. Aromatherapy involves the deployment of plant extracts like distillates, hydrates, and essential oils to treat various afflictions. Aromatherapy treatment is very effective and has minimal side effects as it uses natural plant extracts.
There are certain essential oils that help in curing wounds by reducing the bleeding, accentuating the process of blood clotting, and reducing its proneness to infection. The specifics of aromatherapy to cure cuts and bruises are listed below:
- You may use a variety of essential oils like thyme essential oil, peppermint essential oil, pine essential oil, Melissa essential oil, lemon essential oil, lavender essential oil, juniper essential oil, and the like.
- You must dilute these essential oils with carrier oils like walnut oil, coconut oil, olive oil, or jojoba oil. The dilution should be to the extent of 2.5%.
- You must first clean the wound and apply pressure around the area so as to stop the bleeding. You should then apply the diluted essential oil on the wounded area, without too much rubbing or massaging.
- You may also use a blend of these essential oils to treat cuts and wounds. For example, you may prepare a blend of lavender essential oil, thyme essential oil and grapeseed essential oil to treat cuts and bruises.
- You may use calendula essential oil to ameliorate the process of cell division and growth.
- One of the other ways to deploy essential oils for the treatment of cuts and bruises is to use them to increase immunity against infections. For example, you must use tea tree essential oil regularly to raise your immunity against infections from wounds. Also, you may use plant distillates to prevent bacterial or fungal infections in the case of cuts.
These are the ‘Dos’ in the deployment of aromatherapy to cure cuts. However, there are ‘Don’ts’ as well. You should never use essential oil without dilution. This may lead to adverse effects. You must not use essential oils in excess amounts or at very frequent intervals.
You are recommended to consult your doctor or aromatherapy specialist before you use aromatherapy to treat bruises or any other wounds.
