Aromatherapy For Aging Skin Treatment

Aromatherapy, which utilizes therapeutic essential oils, helps in making the skin look much younger. You may not need a facelift or chemical peels to make your skin look younger. With the help of these essential oils, you can make your skin look much younger than it is.

Medically, it is known that regeneration of old cells is what makes the skin look healthy. As we age, this natural regeneration process gets slowed down and people resort to chemical methods of regeneration like chemical peels. Pure essential oils, however, can help keep the collagen in your skin healthy. It is the collagen that maintains the elasticity of your skin and makes it look healthy. Therefore, the regular use of essential oils can keep the natural mechanisms of regeneration of skin tissue intact.

There are two ways of using these essential oils. Some essential oils are mild in nature and therefore can be applied directly to the skin. However, most of the essential oils are highly concentrated and need to be either diluted with a carrier oil or mixed with other mild beauty products.

Mix together equal parts of the essential oil of sweet basil, juniper, lemongrass, peppermint, lemon and niaouli. Mix all these oils well and then add this to your everyday face cleanser. All these together will help relax your facial muscles, and help maintain the elasticity of the facial tissue.

You can also make your daily moisturizer into a powerful wrinkle cream. Simply add to your moisturizer, a drop each of fennel, lavender, carrot seed, patchouli, sage, geranium, rose and frankincense. All of these together can help you boost the health of your skin.

Your regular hydrating cream that you use at night can also be turned into a powerful anti aging product. Simply add to your cream a drop each of tangerine, neroli, sweet orange, mandarin and rose essential o

Aromatherapy : Natural Remedy For Age Spot Removal

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Age spots, or liver spots, are common and begin to appear as we age. These are flat brown spots that mostly surface on the hands, neck, and face, albeit they can manifest all over the body. As the name suggests, these brown spots are directly related to aging. However, there are many other causes for such spots, and in some cases, they may even be an indication of an underlying problem. One of the main causes of age spots is over exposure to the sun. When exposed to sun, the skin increases its production of the tanning pigment known as melanin, and increased production of melanin causes age spots. At other instances, age spots can signal an underlying condition such as damage to internal organs, including the heart, liver, or the retina. Some other factors that can result in the manifestation of age spots is improper nutrition, lack of exercise, smoking (including second hand smoke), and poor liver function.

Essential Oils For Age Spots Treatment: There are several home and natural remedies for age spot removal. Most of these remedies can be found in your kitchen or backyard. Apart from the use of lemon juice, buttermilk, and castor oil, to name a few, age spots can also be treated with the use of aromatherapy essential oils. When using essential oils, keep in mind that they cannot be directly applied to your skin and must always be mixed with carrier oils before application. Also, it is always advisable to perform a patch test before using any oil. In particular, pregnant women must consult their doctor prior to the use of any aromatherapy oil, particularly frankincense essential oil. Some of the common aromatherapy oils used for age spot removal have been listed below.

One of the most commonly used oils for the removal of age spots is frankincense essential oil. It has been known to work effectively and treat age spots in a short period of time. In fact, since ancient times, frankincense essential oil has been used as a miracle healer for various skin conditions. In order to use frankincense essential oil for the treatment of age spots, make sure that you have the pure essential oil and not a blend. Mix this oil with a tablespoon of castor oil and store in an airtight container away from light. You need to apply this mixture to the spots or the affected area, twice a day. Be careful when applying this mixture near the eyes, as it is not recommended. For age spots near the eyes, it is preferable to use only castor oil.

Apart from frankincense essential oil, lemon and benzoin essential oils are also known to be effective in age spot removal, owing to their bleaching properties. Apply a mixture of these oils with a carrier oil (such as almond) to the affected areas, twice a day. Avocado oil can also be used for the treatment of age spots and other sun exposure-related conditions. Other common oils that can be used to treat age spots are tea tree oil, grapeseed oil, lavender oil, and oil of

Get Rid of Acne Using Essential Oils

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Acne is a problem that almost all of us suffer from at some point in our life. Some of us have a constant acne problem and others have occasionally had it. Though it is not really something to worry about, acne can be really unsightly and therefore unwanted.

Acne is usually caused by skin pores that get clogged. The sebum, or the natural oil that the sebaceous glands of the skin secretes, gets locked inside the skin when the pores are clogged. This build up of oil attracts bacteria which feed on it. These bacteria slowly multiply and cause more acne. Those who have an oily skin are usually more prone to acne. Hormonal imbalances and stress are also usually associated with acne.

Aromatherapy Acne Treatment

Though there are a lot of remedies available for treating acne, essential oils have been proven to be extremely effective as well. The many properties of essential oils help to treat hormonal imbalances, uplift moods, and reduce stress. Since these are all problems that cause acne, treatment with these essential oils can help reduce or permanently treat acne. Many commercially available acne treatment products also contain these essential oils.

For various skin types, different essential oils can be used. If you have dry skin, you can use a compress of essential oils and salts. For oily skin, you can make a toner from essential oils. You can also use any of the essential oils that are antiseptic.

For oily skin, lemon, juniper berry, cedarwood, tea tree, lavender, geranium, clary sage, sandalwood, frankincense, and lemon grass oils can be used. However, these should be used only as per a therapist’s instruction. Some of these oils are very potent and should be diluted before being used.

For making a facial toner, add six parts of juniper berry oil to twelve parts of lemon grass oil. Add to this, two parts of ylang ylang lotion and then mix with one ounce each of witch hazel lotion and aloe vera gel. Mix all these well till it becomes a smooth cream and then store in a glass bottle. You can keep using this lotion everyday.

In order to treat the scars left by pimples, add about twelve drops of tea tree essential oil to half a teaspoon of powdered Oregon grape root. To dilute this, add a few drops of water. When this resembles the consistency of a paste, add this to the area affected with acne and blemishes. You can even add vitamin E oil to this paste, if you have any. This paste will help remove the blemishes from your skin and also help to prevent any future sca

These days, we’re all accustomed to high stress lifestyles. Stresses of the mind are manifested in the physical body as a variety of diseases. The first visible signs of aging are seen on the skin and face, and stress speeds up this process. Aromatherapy products are used in a variety of body care products that help you decrease stress in your life, and slow down the aging process. From hair creams to massage oils, many products contain essential oils of different plants. For body and skin care, you can blend essential oils yourself to create products that can relax you, and reverse the damage that heat, pollution, and stress cause.

Essential oils can be introduced into the body by inhalation, or can be massaged into the body. They calm the mind, which immediately releases stress from the body as well. You’ll immediately feel your shoulders loosen and body relax. A relaxed mind leads to a relaxed, and healthy, body. Essential oils heal the body and rejuvenate the skin.

Aromatherapy massage. An massage is a great way to get essential oils into the body. There are a variety of essentials oils available, and practitioners will choose essential oils based on the clients need, body type, and other factors. The essential oil is mixed with a carrier oil, as it should not be directly applied to the body, and massaged into the skin. The oils are absorbed into the skin, and also breathed in (and into the limbic system, which affects heart rate, stress, blood pressure, and other vitals) to affect the body.

A few of the different oils available to you are chamomile and lavender, which have calming effects, ylang-ylang, rode, and sage, which are uplifting, as well as others like rosemary, eucalyptus, and tea tree, which have energising, cleansing, or decongesting effects. These are only a few of the oils available, and they all have medicinal qualities too.

By relaxing the mind and body, the massage will help your body to be stress free, and escape the rigors of daily life. Once you learn a little about the oils and their effects, you can get a massage from a loved one, or even do it yourself.

Other uses for aromatherapy. Massaging isn’t the only way to introduce these wonderful oils into your body. You can buy aromatherapy candles, or with a little work, make them yourself. These spread the vapors of the essential oils all over the room, and when you breathe, you’ll breathe in the benefits of these oils too. Similarly, you can also add a few drops of these oils to your bath and soak in it for a while.

Aromatherapy in other products. You may not know this, but a lot of products available in the market use essential oils. For instance, some of the most romantic perfumes available today use essential oil, from plants which are light, flowery, and romantic in nature. Similarly, many soaps have essential oils in them, and will often be advertised as such. Aromatherapy body care products also include skin care and hair care products, which will leave your body and hair feeling fresh and rejuvenated the natural way.

So the next time you’re out shopping for body care products, take a look at the aromatherapy section, and you’ll leave the store more than satisfied.
