A common alternative health practice, aromatherapy has become extremely popular due to its therapeutic properties. It uses essential oils extracted from plants to facilitate healing and treat symptoms of illness. One such common problem that aromatherapy is effective against is indigestion. Indigestion usually involves several related symptoms such as abdominal pain, flatulence, heart burn, and poor digestion. The most common oils used for indigestion are orange essential oil, peppermint essential oil, chamomile essential oil, fennel oil, frankincense, and rosemary essential oil.

Aromatherapy treatment for indigestion is best administered through soups and teas. Alternatively, the oils can also be rubbed onto the abdominal area in small quantities, using an effective carrier oil.

Peppermint oil is extremely effective against flatulence. It also helps in treating colic pain in babies. When using it for a baby, simply place a few drops of it on the other side of the baby’s pillow. You can also use it on yourself for treating stomach cramps and heartburn. Massage small amounts oil onto your abdomen for immediate relief.

Another effective natural oil against indigestion is rosemary essential oil. It is known to be helpful with problems such as indigestion and flatulence as well as with menstrual disorders. Remember that rosemary oil should not be taken in orally; it is best used as a massage oil or in b
