Origin: Jasmine oil is an aromatic floral oil, extracted from the beautiful jasmine flowers. Jasmine was first grown and used for aroma as well as for medicinal purposes in India and China. From there it has traveled to Turkey, Japan, Italy, Spain and France, where there is a thriving business in extracting essential oil.

The jasmine is a shrub which grows to a height of about 10 meters. It has glossy dark green leaves brightened with exquisite star-shaped white flowers. They bloom at night, and that is the best time for picking since their aroma is at its strongest.

About 1,000 pounds of blossoms yield one pound of liquid.

Properties: Jasmine essential oil is a golden liquid with a heady fragrance. It is neither too thick nor thin and can be easily mixed with carrier oils and with other essential oils, especially rose, bergamot and all citrus oils.

Uses: This exotic oil has more uses than just smelling good. It has many health benefits such as being anti-spasmodic, antiseptic and a good expectorant as well. It also has anti-allergic properties.

  • Jasmine oil, with its calming properties, is a good aphrodisiac and enhances sexual performance. It has been found helpful in treating cases of premature ejaculation, impotence and frigidity.
