Aromatherapy BathsHaving an aromatherapy bath will greatly impact the healing of skin disorders, relaxing the muscles by removing aches and pains, improves the respiratory system, reduces stress levels and increases the blood and lymph circulation.
Essential oil baths also known as aromatherapy baths speeds up your healing on various levels both physiological and psychological. For a full body bath, add 5-10 drops to the bath water as per your choice of essential oils.
If you are selecting highly fragrant oil, you can add fewer drops than if you choose less fragrant oil. Your bath water should be warm and not hot.
Add the drops just before getting in the bath or once you are in the bath. Swish the water to disperse the concentration of the oil in the water. You can also use powdered milk, sea salts, milk, and carrier oils to dilute these essential oils and reduce the possibility of irritation. When added to the bath, these essential oils float on the aromatherapy bath water and leave a thin film of undiluted oil on the skin while coming out from the bath.
This may cause reaction in people who have sensitive skin as these oils can be quite irritating and sensitizing. Hence it is highly recommended that you dissolve a small amount of non-irritant essential oil in a non-petroleum based detergent or liquid soap in the range of around 5-10 parts of the liquid to which are added 1 part of essential oil.
Add this solution to the water to enjoy the aromatherapy bath and remove this film of oil. Safety Note: if you experience any irritation while aromatherapy bath, it is possible that you have added too much of essential oil to the bath. Relieve this irritation by rinsing this area with cool water and apply a light cream without any essential oils on the affected part.
This will ease the irritation with one hour. Aromatic baths with Epsom salts or sea saltsEpsom salts are very useful in assisting and supporting the body when undergoing detoxification. They eliminate the waste materials from the skin as well as reduce the muscular aches and pains by flushing out uric acid present in the body. They stimulate the body’s lymph and blood circulation, thereby improving your immune system. Add 5-8 drops of essential oils for each cup of Epsom salts. Foot and Hand bathsYou can treat arthritis, athlete’s foot, poor circulation, low energy, stress, nail fungus and other skin disorders of the hands and feet by taking hand and foot bath. Add 5-7 drops of essential oil to a basin or tub of hot or warm water. Soak your hands and feet for 10-15 minutes. You can also add ½ cup of Epsom salts to increase the benefic effect of this water.
