Compress using Aromatherapy Bath OilUsing compress is an highly efficient method of applying aromatherapy bath salts to the affected area.
The equipment used is bowl of water, selected aromatherapy bath salts and a cloth. Hence this method is an inexpensive way of getting the benefits of aromatherapy.
This method is useful in treatment of conditions like muscular aches, body pains, varicose veins, sprains, menstrual cramps and respiratory congestion. If you are tired after a long day’s work, using a compress will relax you. There are two types of compresses viz: hot and cold.
Hot compress should be used for chronic conditions or the conditions which are long lasting while the cold compress is very useful for acute conditions. The usual dosage is 5- 6 drops of aromatherapy bath salts to ½ liter of water.
The process of preparing the any hot or cold compress is as follows: 1. Pour 3-6 drops of aromatherapy bath salts in a bowl of hot or cold water. 2. Mix the water and the salts. 3. Soak the cloth in the water for some time to absorb the water. 4. Wring the soaked cloth. 5. Keep the cloth on the affected area. For a good compress, use four to five layers of cotton cloth.
After placing the compress on the affected cloth, cover it with plastic wrap. This will ensure that the temperature is retained for a long time.
On the top of the plastic wrap, keep a pre-warmed towel. Keep this compress for one to two hours. |
